Banyana Banyana reached the 2017 Cosafa

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe – South Africa’s Banyana Banyana reached the 2017 Cosafa Women’s Championship final after emerging 5-3 winners on penalties after scores were locked at 3-all in regulation time in their semifinal at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on Thursday.

South Africa’s victory crowned a great fightback after they found themselves down 3-0 deep into the second half. Zambia had scored through goals by Barbra Banda, Grace Chanda and Misozi Zulu.

Just when it looked like Zambia were well and truly on course to the final, South Africa’s Leandra Smeda snatched two goals some 12 minutes before the end.
